Omicron variant

The new SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant, identified for the first time November 26th, 2021, has been designated by World Health Organization, WHO, as variant of concern. It has a large number of mutations, specially concerning are 30 mutations in the Spike protein. WHO has informed that preliminary data suggests the variant has higher transmissibility than other variants of concern. First cases were detected in South Africa, but at least other 12 countries have already identified positive cases.
