Immunochromatographic test for the detection and identification of Legionella genus, Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 and Legionella pneumophila serogroups 1-15 in samples from bacterial cultures.
- Rapid detection in 30 minutes
- Easy to use and minimum handling required
- Multitest format for the identification of the main groups with clinical interest
- Based on specific and highly purified MAb
- Allows for detection of all Legionella species
Legionella sp., L. pneumophila sg 1 and L. pneumophila sg 1-15
Cases of legionellosis frequently appear as outbreaks in community, tourist and nosocomial settings, so this disease is considered a public health problem and its prevention and control is highly legislated.
The recommended method is based on the concentration of the sample and the subsequent treatments carried out to allow the Legionella genus to survive and to reduce or eliminate the accompanying microbiotics. Subsequently, culture media are used to detect and obtain a count of the bacteria of the genus Legionella present in the sample analysed. Finally, it is necessary to confirm the presence of Legionella pneumophila, especially serogroup 1, due to the clinical importance of this species.
VIRapid LEGIONELLA CULTURE has very good performance and certain advantages over latex:
- Being an immunochromatographic test, it allows a more objective reading through the appearance of a red band.
- The genus part of our cassette, unlike the latex tests on the market, is capable of detecting all Legionella species and can function as a screening or confirmation test for Legionella non pneumophila, depending on the method used.
- The use of our test has a simpler protocol and less manipulation than latex agglutination due to its multitest format.
- The use of monoclonal antibodies improves the performance of our product, allowing the detection of new species or serogroups that may eventually appear.
- Very competitive price
