West Nile virus

  • Culex Pipiens Virus del Nilo

West Nile virus (WNV) is an emerging zoonotic arbovirus with a wide global distribution. It is part of the family Flaviviridae, within the genus Flavivirus. Its genetic material consists of a single strand of positive-sense RNA, with approximately 11,000 nucleotides, encoding a polyprotein. This, in turn, is fragmented by proteolytic processes to give rise to the 10 mature viral proteins.
